Director’s Welcome Message for IFS Probationers Batch 2021-23

Dear Indian Forest Service Probationers of 2021 batch,

My hearty compliments on your joining the leading cadre of forestry profession in the government. I welcome you to the Indian Forest Service, the IGNFA and the foresters' fraternity.

The civil services offer immense opportunities to realize one's potentials in dedicated public service, and to fulfill one's upright aspirations as well. The professional mandates and functioning of the Indian Forest Service are innately noble and inspiring. Shouldering major responsibility regarding the crucial concerns of environment, ecology and human community welfare associated with the forests, forestry and the related systems, the mandate and tasks entrusted to this service are crucially significant and enduring, and the diverse engagements thereof make the profession distinctively engrossing and fulfilling.

Majority of your batch would be joining us in the last week of next month after completing 18 weeks of probationary training in the Foundation Course in Administration at LBSNAA, where you would have imbibed to a good extent the ethos and attributes of civil services at the higher pedestal in the government. A minority of your batch would be directly joining the service and the probationary training at IGNFA, Dehradun, who would also inculcate these ethos and attributes soon enough with our association and in your companionship.

The Academy is looking forward to your arrival and is making the necessary arrangements for the best facilitation of your joining here and settling down for the next sixteen and half months of fulfilling association for productive and creative journey of your nascent formative time of your career, and in the process gainful engagements for the Academy during IFS Probationers’ training programme here.

I also congratulate and welcome the officer trainees from Bhutan; their being with us is mutually enriching, and we significantly value the association.

Although, the harsh adversities of Covid-19 pandemic are, fortunately, on the way out, adherence to some basic elements of Covid-19 appropriate behavior is in the best interest of all of us.

Welcome! Once again,

Date: 23rd February, 2022
