REDD-plus cell of IGNFA organized a two-day module on “Forests and Climate Change” for IFS Probationers of 2015-17 Course during 17-18 October 2016. The module was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Kumar, Director, IGNFA with his keynote speech on issues and challenges of Climate Change and important role of forests. The objectives of the module encompassed understanding the Climate Change and its impact on Forest Ecosystems; Global & National Response to Climate Change; Mitigation role of forests & tree plantations and need for building adaption strategies for forest sector; and understanding REDD-plus framework for developing countries. The module was conducted by Dr. Mohit Gera, Professor (Academics) & Member Secretary, REDD-plus Cell, along with other experts in the field, i.e., Sh. Ajay Kumar Lal, Director, DST & Member Secretary, Himachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, Dr. T. P. Singh, ADG, Biodivrsity & Climate Change, ICFRE, Dr. Senthil Kumar, Addl. Professor, IGNFA and Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sr. Deputy Director. The Group Presentations of IFS (P) were moderated by Dr. Mohit Gera and the session was chaired by Sh. Jairaj, PCCF Uttarakhand Forest Department. A random quiz pertaining to questions from within the module was also conducted and following IFS (P) won the prizes:
