REDD-plus cell of IGNFA organized a two-day module on “Forests and Climate Change” for IFS Probationers of 2014-16 Course during 10-11 December 2015. The module was inaugurated by Sh. R.B.S. Rawat, Former PCCF & HoFF, Uttarakhand Forest Department. The objectives of the module were understanding the Climate Change and its impact on Forest Ecosystems; Global & National Response to Climate Change; Mitigation role of forests & tree plantations and need for building adaption strategies for forest sector; and understanding REDD-plus, framework for developing countries.

The module was conducted by Dr. Mohit Gera, Professor (Academics) & Member Secretary, REDD-plus Cell, along with other experts in the field, i.e., Sh. Senthil Kumar, Addl. Professor, IGNFA, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Joint Director, FSI; Sh. V. R. S. Rawat, Scientist ‘F’, ICFRE, Sh. H. D. Kulkarni, Former Vice President, ITC Ltd. Bhadrachalam and Sh. G. B. Mukherjee, Former Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The Group Presentations of IFS (P) were moderated by Dr. Mohit Gera and the session was chaired by Sh. A. K. Wahal, Former PCCF and HoFF Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department. A random quiz pertaining to questions from within the module was also conducted and following IFS (P) won the prizes:
