26th Professional Skill Upgradation Course (PSUC)

Valedictory Function of 26th Professional Skill Upgradation Course (PSUC) for officers promoted from State Forest Service to IFS was held on 15th March, 2013 at IGNFA. The Course Coordinator Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Additional Professor presented the course report.

The 10-week long course was held from 7th January to 15th March, 2013 which was attended by 25 officers of varied experiences of around 20 to 25 years belonging to 12 different states viz. Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, UP, Karnataka, West Bengal, Goa, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Apart from classroom sessions during this training programme, field excursions and study tours were conducted to Forest Research Institute, Wildlife Institute of India, Forest Survey of India, Agro- industry in Yamuna Nagar and Chandigarh, and Vulture conservation and Breeding Center, Pinjore.

During the 2-week long Study Tour, the Participants visited the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andaman& Orissa. This tour was intended to give the Participants an insight into the flora & fauna and forest & wildlife management practices, Eco-tourism & Eco- development of the South and East India.

The Chief Guest Shri R K Goel, Director, IGNFA delivered valedictory address to the participants. He emphasized the importance of such courses in enhancing the vision of participants also to enable them to re-orient themselves according to job requirements in the changing forestry scenario.
