Two-day module for 30th PSU Course on “Forests and Climate Change”

REDD-plus cell of IGNFA organized a two-day module on “Forests and Climate Change” for 30th PSU Course during 6-7 December 2016. The objectives of the module encompassed understanding the Climate Change and its impact on Forest Ecosystems; Global & National Response to Climate Change; Mitigation role of forests & tree plantations and need for building adaption strategies for forest sector; and understanding REDD-plus framework for developing countries.

The module was conducted by Dr. Mohit Gera, Professor (Academics) & Member Secretary, REDD-plus Cell, along with other experts in the field, i.e., Sh. Ajay Kumar Lal, Director, DST & Member Secretary, Himachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board, Dr. T. P. Singh, ADG, Biodivrsity & Climate Change, ICFRE, Dr. Senthil Kumar, Addl. Professor, IGNFA, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sr. Deputy Director and Sh. V. R. S. Rawat, Scientist ‘F’, ICFRE. The Group Presentations of participants of PSU Course were moderated by Dr. Mohit Gera and the session was chaired by Sh. Jairaj, PCCF Uttarakhand Forest Department. The Group Presentation made by Group II consisting of Sh. T Gapak, Sh. Sanjeev Jha, Sh. N.S. Ladkat, Sh. Manoj Parashar, Sh. Manoj Saha and Dr. Rajeev Mishra was adjudged as the best. A random quiz pertaining to questions from within the module was also conducted and following participants won the prizes:

i) First Prize: Mr. Rajeev Kumar Mishra
ii) Second Prize: Mr. Sanjeev Jha
iii) Third Prize: Dr. Rajeev Mishra & Mr. G. K. Anarse

The module was concluded with the Prize Distribution session chaired by Dr. Shashi Kumar, Director, IGNFA. On the occasion a booklet on “Forests and Climate Change” prepared by REDD-plus Cell of IGNFA was also released by him.
