A two-day workshop on "Widening scope of forestry sector beyond notified forests- Need to tackle socio-economic, ecological & climate issues" for IFS officers who have completed 25 years of service was organized by IGNFA from 5th to 6th June, 2014 for the officers of 1989 batch. The aim was to address socio-economic, ecological & climate issues by widening the scope of forestry sector beyond notified forests. The workshop, inter-alia also provided an opportunity to the IFS Probationers undergoing training in the Academy to interact with the senior officers.
A total of 51 officers of 1989 batch attended this workshop. Shri Indu Kumar Pande, Former Chief Secretary and Financial Advisor to Chief Minister, Uttarakhand was the Chief Guest in the Inaugural Session. Presentations and deliberations were made on the following topics:
1) Need beyond the traditional forestry: A call of the hour
2) Role of Agroforestry: A tool for addressing global warming and climate change
3) Strategies for effective socio-economic development and ecological perspective: Trees Outside Forests as an option
4) Urban Greening: An option for Greening Urban India
