Senior Foresters’ Workshop – 25 years (1991 batch of IFS) conducted at IGNFA

A Senior Foresters’ Workshop for IFS Officers of 25 years of service (1991 batch) was conducted at IGNFA during 28-29 September, 2016. The Theme of the Workshop was “Forest Land Records Modernization-FMIS & GIS Application with Decision Support Systems for Ecosystem Management”. Dr. Jagdish Kishwan, former Additional Director General of Forests, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change was the Chief Guest of Inaugural Session and Shri MC Ghildiyal, former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of Uttar Pradesh was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory Session. Three Technical Sessions of the following theme were conducted during the course of workshop.

Technical Session I       :  Land Record Modernization
Technical Session II      :  Forest Management Information system
Technical Session III : GIS Applications with Decision Support System for effective management of natural resources.

Group Working was also organized among the participants with topics related to the main theme of the workshop, which was followed by group presentation towards the end of workshop wherein recommendations were also made for modernizing of forest land records with the intervention of technology.

A total of 44 Officers participated in the workshop and it met its objectives of deliberating of the theme, experiential learning and making useful recommendations.
