Senior Foresters' Workshop for 1977 Batch

A two-day workshop on “Future of Forestry in India” for officers of Indian Forest Service (IFS) who have completed 35 years of service was organized by Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun from 16th to 17th April, 2013, for the officers of 1977 Batch. The aim was to address emerging policy issues at the local, national and international level in the forestry sector besides sharing experience with the batchmates of other cadres. The workshop, inter-alia also provided an opportunity to the IFS Probationers undergoing training in the Academy to interact with the senior officers.

43 Officers of 1977 Batch attended this workshop. Sh. P. Keswani and Dr. Pankaj Khullar, ex faculty members were the Chief Guests in the Inaugural session. Sh. Gildyal was the Chief Guest for the valedictory session. Presentations and deliberations were made on the following topics:

1. Forest Sector Response to Climate Change.
2. Biodiversity Conservation: Global and National Perspective
3. Role of Technology in Forest Management
