Senior Foresters' Workshop (1963-65 Course)

Senior Forester’s Workshop was organized during 25-26 April 2013 for the officers belonging to 1963-65 course of the erstwhile Indian Forest College. Initiated in 2008, this workshop has now become an annual feature for all IFC courses coinciding with the completion of 50 years of the joining. This reunion workshop, attended by 41 officers was sixth in the series. The workshop focused on contemporary issues and challenges being faced by the forest sector. The veteran foresters were warmly welcomed by the Academy which was followed by the Inaugural Session. The participants were apprised of the latest forestry research, forest cover assessment, wildlife research and the present day training of forestry personnel’s by heads of the Institutions located in Dehradun.

The participants had a very fruitful interaction with IFS (P) of 2011-13 and 2012-14 courses and also attended sessions on experience sharing and discussion on various issues concerning the field of forestry, wildlife and environmental conservation. A souvenir published on the occasion of completion of 50 years of the course was also released during the workshop. The recommendation of the workshop is under preparation for onward submission to Ministry of Environment and Forests.
