MCT Phase-II (1) Course

IGNFA organized MCT Phase-II (1) for IFS Officers of 14-16 years of Seniority

Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy organized mandatory Mid-Career Training (MCT) Phase–II (1) Course for IFS officers with 14-16 years of seniority from 20th February to 18th March, 2017. The program was attended by 45 IFS officers from 1997 to 2000 Batches. The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Shashi Kumar, Director, IGNFA.

The Phase-II (1) programme was organized with the objective to build upon the experience gained by the officer in the service and help them to consolidate their experience, to equip them to shoulder greater responsibility at the course correction level. The programme was of four weeks duration and had following components.

The Management module was organized in the first week with support of IIFM, Bhopal. During the second week the participants stayed in Delhi and interacted with the various Central Government Ministries and other Institutions like National Green Tribunal, Central Zoo Authority, Central Pollution Control Board etc; to explore the possibility of synergy and convergence in forestry working in the allied sectors.

In the third week, the participants were sent to Russia and Finland to study the best forestry practices followed in these countries on subjects like sustainable forest management, environmental management and climate change, wildlife conservation and PA management, ecotourism, watershed management, forest policy and governance issues etc. This module was designed with sufficient theoretical and practical inputs to enable the officers to understand the practices followed in overseas and its adaptability to Indian conditions.

The fourth week (13th to 18th March, 2017) was organized in IGNFA focusing on emerging Forestry issues, landscape based ecosystem management, media management, biodiversity & environment conservation issues and overseas module symposium.

Valedictory session was held on 18th March, 2017. Dr. Shashi Kumar, Director IGNFA chaired the session and awarded course completion certificate to the participants.
