For orientation and sensitization of IFS probationer of 2014-16 course on coastal and marine biodiversity resources management; an expedition was organised by the IGNFA in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Andaman and Nicobar Forest Department. The expedition was part of work package under the MOU signed between the IGNFA and GIZ. The course curriculum was jointly evolved by the institutions involved in the expedition. Sixty one IFS probationers were taken in two batches to Andaman group of islands in the month of February 2016. They were exposed to marine resource monitoring through scuba diving techniques, Management of MPA, coastal ecotourism management, CRZ issues etc. Many innovative training methods were used in the said expedition such as customized knowledge, skills and value oriented sessions, participatory training methods such as braining storming sessions and knowledge cafe, thematic championship etc. Dr. Neeraj Khera (Ms.) Senior Technical Expert, GIZ played crucial role in execution of the expedition program.
