Second Joint training programme for the year 2013-14 for the three All India Services was conducted by IGNFA from 16th to 19th July, 2013. A total of 26 participants including 7 IAS, 8 IPS and 11 IFS officers attended the training program. This program was inaugurated by ShriInduKPande, Financial Advisor to Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and ex-Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand state.
Theme of the training was "Natural Resource Management with special emphasis on biodiversity conservation"
. Under this, inputs on topics Biodiversity Conservation: Issues and Challenges, Ecosystem, biodiversity and Climate, Left Wing Extremism and Forest Management, Eco-tourism for biodiversity conservation; and Judicial Activism and Biodiversity Conservation were covered.
One day field visit to Dhanaulti Ecotourism Project was also included as part of the program. In this participants were shown the concept of ecotourism in practice and involvement of local communities in such ventures. The group could also interact with the Director, LalBahadurShastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
Keeping in view the purpose of this training, a panel discussion on the topic "Inter Services Co-ordination" was also conducted. Panel was chaired by Dr. R.B.S.Rawat, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Uttarakhand.
