29th Professional Skill Upgradation Course (PSUC) was organised from 17th November 2015 to 22nd January 2016. It is a 10 weeks compulsory course for State Forest Service officers who are promoted and inducted into Indian Forest Service.
The Course was attended by 23 officers from 13 different states. During the course, the modules on All India service and General Management; Wildlife Management; Biodiversity Conservation & Forest Management; Remote Sensing & Geographical Information Systems; Environment (Climate Change); Forest Law and People and Forests were conducted. The modules were conducted by the IGNFA faculty and eminent resource persons having vast experience in the fields of Forestry Environment and Wildlife. They were drawn from spectrum of Institutes and Organisations of National and International repute viz., Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education, Forest Research Institute, Forest Survey of India, Wildlife Institute of India, Directorate of Forest Education, Regional office of MoEFCC, Supreme Court Advocates, NGOs and various State Forest Departments.
As part of the course, the participants were taken for study tour to expose them best practices in forestry sector viz., Ecotourism, Soil and Water Conservation, Marine Ecosystem, Wildlife and Biodiversity Management practiced by the different states viz. Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. A tour to Corbett National Park was also organised to study the best practices in the tiger reserve. The participants were also taken to the various nearby places on day long excursions such as Dhanolti, Rishikesh, Rajaji National Park etc. A special module on e governance was conducted in association with National Institute of Smart Governance, Hyderabad . The participants also attended two day attachment with Amity University, Noida wherein they were sensitised towards the use of Nano technology and Organic farming. The course culminated with the Valedictory function organised on 22nd January 2016.
